Virginia's Leader in SOL Science and Social Studies Practice and Review for Elementary and Middle School

Solpass activities are intended to supplement, not replace, solid classroom instruction by providing review of the specific concepts and information that the students are likely to encounter in the classroom and on the SOL end-of-year tests. By making test preparation easy and convenient, we hope to encourage excellent classroom instruction, which need not be sacrificed for narrowly focused "teaching to the test".

New Science Standards will be implemented in the 2022-23 school year.
In 2018, the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) adopted new standards in science. The new standards will be taught beginning in the 2022-23 school year and tested in the spring 2024 testing season. SOLpass guides and activities will be updated to reflect the new standards before classroom implementation begins in the fall of 2022.

VDOE reduces the number of SOL tests
In 2014, Virginia eliminated the following five elementary and middle school SOL tests: Grade-3 Science, Grade-3 Social Studies, U.S. History to 1865, U.S. History 1865-Present and Grade-5 Writing. The curriculum will be taught, as before, with classroom assessments occuring throughout the school year.
